Blessed Mary of the Passion (1839-1904)
Helen de Chappotin, adolescent.
She was born in Nantes, France in 1839.

Helen as a young girl. At the age of 21 she entered the Poor Clares in Nantes where she had a deep spiritual experience which marked her whole life. She had to leave the monastery because of ill health.
She entered the Sisters of Marie Reparatrix in Toulouse in 1864, and in 1865 she was sent to the Mission of Madurai in India.

Through tragic circumstances, God led her, in 1877, to found the Institute of the Missionaries of Mary which became the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in 1882.
She breathed her last in San Remo in Italy on the 15th of November 1904. Her immortal remains are enshrined in the Blue Chapel in our generalate house in Rome. Our Present Pope John Paul II beatified her on 20th October 2002.
This year on November 15th we the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary celebrate in thanksgiving the first centenary of her death.
