Faith.

If we knew the value of time, if we only knew well how it can sanctify us, save souls, contribute to the glory of God we would never want to waste a single minute. But we lose sight of the assurance of Faith, and our thoughtlessness makes us resemble butterflies who flutter about every pleasant flower they meet with, while the Saints, like the bees, do not leave a flower until they have gathered all the pollen it contains.

                                                                                                                                             ~ Letters (JO: 70)

If we have a living faith in His (Jesus’) mysteries, we will be patient, humble and pure. We will know how to wait for God’s plans to be accomplished in our souls. The full accomplishment of these plans demands that we be faithful to the end , that we be content to be in the low place as in a high one, that above all we die with Jesus Crucified, with Him deeply engraved in our hearts and in our lives.

                                                                                                                                   ~ (Meditations MD: 10)

Do we desire to have a living faith and to witness to this faith in our actions? Let us count on prayer. In silence and solitude, at the feet of Jesus and of His Mother, let us seek the light, the light of faith to know God, the strength of hope to be able to endure, and the wings of charity to make us diligent in the practice of evangelical perfection.

                                                                                                                                   ~ (Meditations MD: 30)

Had we but the spirit of faith to look upon our sufferings and persecutions, simply as instruments of divine love to make us saints and bring us to glory, we should better imitate the patience of Jesus. Let us consider suffering, in its many different forms, merely as snow; it will thaw, it will pass.

                                                                                                                                   ~ (Meditations MD: 73)

Without faith no one can be wise. It is faith that reveals love to us and love makes us one with Jesus Christ who is life, wisdom, light, the Eternal King, and Who, even in this world gives us a share in all that he is, that we may be perfectly united with Him, the Father and the Holy Spirit in the life to come.

                                                                                                                                  ~ (Meditations MD: 95)

As we advance in age and grace is increasingly given to us, Jesus should grow in our souls, His wisdom should strengthen our faith, our fidelity should kindle our hope, and the light of faith should make our love more fervent.

                                                                                                                                  ~ (Meditations MD: 97)

In our day us, faith is diminishing and therefore, the practice of the spirit of the Gospel and even of the laws of Christianity is also languishing, even in communities. We should rekindle in ourselves this spirit of faith; fear not to meditate on our last end, and then we shall do our duty, whatever it may cost..

                                                                                                                                 ~ (Meditations MD: 161)

If we make our whole life an act of faith, hope and love, the Spirit of God will dwell in our souls in a particular manner.

                                                                                                                                 ~ (Meditations MD: 203)
