“Every missionary should be a forerunner of Jesus. But, if she is to be worthy of her vocation, the Lord must purify her and she must preserve the purity of her conscience. A missionary who is really faithful, the joy of heaven and earth: she prepares the way of the Lord. Her virtues draw many souls to her and by her to Jesus. In fervent imitation of the forerunner, a faithful missionary will ascribe to God all the glory, give to Him every heart, sincerely despise herself, look upon herself as an utterly unworthy servant. By her whole life, she will repeat the saint’s word words: “Jesus must increase, and I must decrease.” M.D: 405
“In religious communities and elsewhere, only those who are charitable, peaceful, merciful and patient, can draw other souls to the love of our Lord and to regularity. Just as the passion of Our Saviour brought forth abundant fruit, so also will our readiness in forgiving those who cause us suffering.” M.D 442
“The Franciscan Missonaries of mary should be the flowers of a pleasant odor, the fruit of honor and riches; they should be the vine of Mary. In her is all graces of the way and of the truth; in all hope of life and of virtue. Let us go to the Immaculate virgin; those who nourish themselves with her spirit will still hunger; those who drink from the pure fountain of her virtues will still thirst for Jesus. They that explain her shall have life everlasting. MD: 450
